　一時は上げ幅が470円近くに達し、10月30日以来２営業日ぶりに１万9100円を上回った。前日の米株高や円安・ドル高を受けて輸出株を中心に日本株への買い意欲が強まり、「欧州の買い持ち主体の投資家から買い注文が入った」（国内証券）との声があった。郵政３社の株価が公開価格を上回って堅調に推移し、投資家が運用リスクを取る姿勢を強めたことも追い風になった。

　ただ、14時すぎに日経平均は急速に伸び悩んだ。かんぽ生命株がストップ高に上昇し、親会社の日本郵政株にも急速に買いが膨らんだ。これを受けて「個人投資家の一部で換金売りが広がった可能性がある」との声が聞かれた。
