31日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は５日続伸し、終値は前日比166円96銭（0.98％）高の１万7234円98銭だった。４月27日以来およそ１カ月ぶりの高値を付けた。５日続伸は2015年11月17日から24日まで以来で今年初めてとなる。円安基調が支えとなったほか、朝方発表の４月の鉱工業生産指数（速報）が市場予想に反して上昇し、投資家心理が強気に傾いた。トヨタなど主力株が堅調だった。

朝方は利益確定の売りに押され、日経平均は小安い場面が目立った。売りが一巡し円相場が１ドル＝111円台まで伸び悩むと、次第に日本株にも買いが増え日経平均は上げに転じた。

取引開始前に経済産業省が発表した４月の鉱工業生産指数（2010年＝100、季節調整済み）速報値は97.0.と前月を0.3％上回った。市場予想（1.5％低下）に反して２カ月連続で上昇した。時間の経過とともに設備投資の持ち直しに期待した買いも増えた。後場にかけて中国・上海株が大きく上昇したため、日本株に対しても改めて運用リスクを取る動きが強まった。

ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は３日続伸し、前日比124.20ポイント高の１万2453.26で終えた。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も３日続伸した。終値は前日比13.79ポイント高の1379.80だった。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆8740億円と、18日以来およそ２週間ぶりに２兆円の大台を上回った。株価指数を開発・算出するＭＳＣＩの指数採用銘柄の入れ替えに伴う売買が取引終了時点で膨らんだ。売買高は25億2840万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は全体の７割近い1336、値下がりは475、変わらずは144だった。

東証２部株価指数は続伸した。

31日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は続伸した。終値は前日比９円18銭（0.36％）高い2548円85銭だった。前週末からの消費増税の延期報道を受けて投資家心理が改善している。取引時間中の円相場がおおむね１ドル＝111円台前半で推移したことも指数の上昇に寄与した。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で391億円、売買高は9567万株だった。テイツーやガーラ、マクドナルドが上昇した。半面、アスコットや日本ラッド、カルナバイオは下落した。主力銘柄で構成するＪＡＳＤＡＱ―ＴＯＰ20は反発した。

東証マザーズ指数は３日続伸した。終値は前日比12.15ポイント（1.07％）高い1144.64だった。
