16日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は反発し、前日比114円28銭（0.70％）高の１万6519円29銭で終えた。15日の米ダウ工業株30種平均が３日ぶりに上昇し、投資家心理は改善した。日米で金融政策の決定会合を来週21日に控えて金融株には持ち高調整の買いが入った。
このところ下げが目立った銀行株に買いが広がり、三井住友ＦＧは８営業日ぶりに反発した。海外投資家がこれまで持ち高を減らしていた金融株に買い戻しを入れたとの指摘があった。
米アップルが16日から販売した新スマートフォン「ｉＰｈｏｎｅ（アイフォーン）」に関連して、アルプスや村田製など電子部品株も買われた。
半面、外国為替市場で円相場が一時１ドル＝101円台に上昇したため、トヨタや富士重など自動車株は海外事業の採算悪化を懸念した売りに押された。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は３日ぶりに反発した。終値は前日比97.99ポイント（0.84％）高の１万1768.86だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）は８営業日ぶりに反発し、10.39ポイント（0.80％）高の1311.50で終えた。

2017年３月期の連結業績予想を引き上げたニチハは大幅に上昇し、ＪＲ西日本とＪＲ東海が上げた。ＯＬＣと中部電は上昇し、エーザイとコマツの上げも大きかった。一方、ブラジル事業の再建策が伝わったキリンＨＤは下げた。富士重が下落し、三井不と住友不の下げも目立った。
東証２部株価指数は５日続落した。シャープとラオックスが下げ、ハイレックスとＭＣＪが上げた。

東証マザーズ指数は３営業日ぶりに反発した。終値は前日比3.71ポイント（0.41％）高い911.73だった。直近に新規株式公開（ＩＰＯ）した串カツ田中やカナミックＮのほか、そーせいが上昇した。一方でＣＲＩやサイバダイン、モルフォは下落した。
きょうジャスダック市場に新規上場したノムラシス（3940）は、10時36分に公開価格（960円）を51％上回る1450円で初値を付けた。初値比17％高の1699円まで上昇する場面もあったが、大引け前に売りが膨らみ終値は同4.5％安の1385円だった。
