４日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は大幅に続落し、前営業日比229円32銭（1.34％）安の１万6905円36銭で終えた。心理的な節目の１万7000円を10月19日以来、約半月ぶりに下回った。米大統領選をめぐる先行き不透明感が強まり、運用リスク回避の売りが波及した。午後は今夜の米雇用統計の発表を控えて様子見ムードが強まった。

10月に日本株の持ち高を積み増していた海外投資家が主力株を中心にリスク回避の売りを出した。米大統領選をめぐる不安感が高まり、外国為替市場では円高・ドル安が加速。時価総額の大きい銘柄の下げが目立った。自動車エアバッグ大手のタカタの経営再建を不安視した投資家の自動車関連株売りも目立った。

ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は続落した。終値は前営業日比193.41ポイント（1.58％）安の１万2066.29だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）は続落し、21.40ポイント（1.56％）安の1347.04で終えた。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆3564億円。売買高は20億5681万株だった。東証１部の値下がり銘柄数は1512と、全体の76％を占めた。値上がりは395、変わらずは79銘柄だった。

マツダやトヨタ、ホンダなど自動車株の下げが目立った。４日に決算を発表したユニチャームや三菱商、丸紅の下げも大きかった。任天堂やアステラス、東京海上も下落した。一方、旭化成やＪＲ西日本が上昇した。日電産や伊藤忠も上げた。

東証２部株価指数は続落した。シャープや朝日インテクが下げ、フライトＨＤやヨネックスが上げた。

４日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は続落だった。終値は前営業日の２日比21円49銭（0.83％）安い2562円60銭だった。米大統領選の先行き不透明感が嫌気され日経平均株価が大幅に下落。新興株も投資家心理の悪化を反映して売りが優勢となった。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で373億円、売買高は9165万株だった。ＦＶＣや白鳩、平田機工が下落した。半面、ジェイテックやピクセル、ニッピは上昇した。

東証マザーズ指数は３日続落した。終値は前営業日比20.36ポイント（2.28％）安い872.29と３月２日以来、約８カ月ぶりの安値だった。そーせいやサイバダイン、メタップスが下落した。ブランジスタやミクシィ、グリンペプは上昇した。
