16日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は続落した。終値は前日比273円05銭（1.62％）安の１万6596円51銭だった。５日以来、１週間半ぶりの安い水準を付けた。急速な円高進行を受けて企業の採算悪化への警戒感が改めて強まり、幅広い銘柄に売りが出た。

東証昼休み時間帯から外国為替市場で円相場が強含み、午後は１ドル＝100円台前半まで円高・ドル安が進行した。円高と歩調を合わせ、株価指数先物や現物株に断続的な売りが出た。

夏休みシーズンで市場参加者が少なく、売買の厚みに乏しいため、株安と円高が一気に進んだという。

前日の米ダウ工業株30種平均が過去最高値を更新した流れを受け、朝方の日経平均は小幅高で推移する場面があった。ただ、国内独自の手掛かりに乏しく、買いは続かなかった。

ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は続落し、前日比169.13ポイント（1.43％）安の１万1684.54で終えた。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も続落し、終値は前日比18.16ポイント（1.38％）安の1298.47だった。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で１兆9787億円と前日に続いて２兆円を下回った。売買高は16億1458万株。東証１部の値下がり銘柄数は全体の８割超の1672、値上がりは217、変わらずは83だった。

急速な円高進行によりトヨタや富士重、マツダなど自動車株が下落した。外貨建ての債券や株式などの運用資産から得る配当などが目減りするとの懸念から、第一生命など保険株にも売りがかさんだ。半面、前日の米国市場で米預託証券（ＡＤＲ）が大幅に上昇したＬＩＮＥが買いを集めた。三井金やＤＯＷＡ、エーザイや楽天が買われた。

東証２部株価指数は６営業日ぶりに小幅反落した。朝日インテク、ＲＶＨ、アートＳＨＤが下落し、シャープ、アサヒ陶、安川情報が上げた。

16日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は３営業日ぶりに反落した。終値は前日比９円56銭（0.39％）安い2458円28銭だった。手掛かり難のなか、朝方から利益確定目的の売りが先行した。外国為替市場で円高・ドル安が進行して東証１部の大型株が下げ幅を広げ、投資家心理が弱気に傾いたのも新興株の重荷だった。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で297億円、売買高は9848万株だった。主力銘柄で構成するＪＡＳＤＡＱ―ＴＯＰ20は続落した。アストマクスやマクドナルド、平田機工が下落した。半面、極楽湯やセプテニＨＤ、エンジャパンは上昇した。

東証マザーズ指数は小幅に５日続伸した。終値は前日比０.87ポイント（0.09％）高い947.19だった。個人投資家が値動きの軽い銘柄に物色を進めた。ただ、時価総額の大きいサイバダインが急落したのが指数の重荷だった。そーせいやモブキャス、エナリスが上昇した。サイバダインやＪＩＧＳＡＷ、ミクシィが下落した。
