４日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は続伸し、前日比136円98銭（0.83％）高の１万6735円65銭で終えた。円安進行を受け、企業の輸出採算の悪化懸念が後退するとともに投資家心理が改善し、幅広い銘柄に買いが入った。終日買い優勢の展開が続き、後場は上げ幅を150円近くまで拡大する場面があった。

３日発表の９月の米サプライマネジメント協会（ＩＳＭ）製造業景況感指数は前月から持ち直し、好不況の分かれ目である50も上回った。外国為替市場では米景気が堅調との見方から円安・ドル高が進み、東京市場では１ドル＝102円台前半まで下落。円安と歩調を合わせて株価が強含む場面が多かった。時価総額上位銘柄や株価指数への影響度が高い銘柄の上昇が目立ち、市場では下期入りに伴う国内の機関投資家の買いを指摘する声もあった。

大引け間際には伸び悩む場面があった。25日移動平均（１万6737円）近辺まで戻したことで利益確定売りが出やすかったほか、週末発表の９月の米雇用統計を見極めたいとの雰囲気もあった。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で345億円、売買高は8000万株だった。ＦＶＣやベクター、日本ラッドが上昇した。半面、極楽湯やシンバイオ、テックファムは下落した。ノーベル生理学・医学賞について、東京工業大学の大隅良典栄誉教授の受賞が決まり、関連銘柄としてコスモバイオと医学生物に買いが集まった。オートファジー関連の研究試薬を扱うコスモバイオは制限値幅の上限（ストップ高）の前日比300円（22％）高の1660円で終えた。オートファジー関連抗体と阻害剤を販売している医学生物もストップ高の同80円（16％）高の569円と約１年ぶりの高値を付けた。

東証マザーズ指数は続伸した。終値は前日比4.39ポイント（0.46％）高い956.02だった。ブランジスタやフロンテオ、チェンジが上昇した半面、シルバエッグやそーせい、カナミックＮが下落した。
